A hike on the painted desert trail.

By William Collins

In the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge, the Painted Desert Trail crosses two washes, climbs over a mesa and offers picturesque views of the Sonoran Desert.

While only 1.3 miles long, the climbing terrain will give you a good workout for an afternoon hike.

In March of 2010 we had a most pleasant picnic and hike on this trail. Enjoy the photographs.
